GREAT Scholarships 2020 India

In association with the UK’s GREAT Britain campaign, the British Council has recently launched the Great Scholarships – 2020 over a wide array of subjects. This is where it comes as a golden opportunity for every Indian student who is seeking an admission in any of the UK universities or colleges.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • The Applicant must be an Indian resident with an Indian passport at the time of filing the application.
  • He/She must also be coming with an undergraduate degree that allow them an entry to the postgraduate programme at a UK university
  • Must also meet the English language skills as per the UK Higher Education Institution
  • Must also have an invitation from either of the participating UK universities
  • The academics session for the same would start in September 2020

British Council India 70th Anniversary Scholarships 2019-20

This scholarship has been launched by British Council as the second edition of its 70th Anniversary Scholarship programme facilitating Indian Women to pursue a master’s programme in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in the United Kingdom.

The scholarship programme is valued at around GBP 1 million and will be funding the education of  70 Indian women for a  Master’s programme in STEM for the academic year 2019-20.

Besides being An Indian women, you must also come along with some great academic and extracurricular record at your back, along with an invitation from a university from the UK, to stay eligible for this scholarship.

Study Visa for UK

Types of Student Visa

TIER 4 (GENERAL) STUDENT VISAS

If you are a student aged 16 year or more and looking to seek higher education in the UK, you are required to apply for a Tier 4 (General) student visa.

Still, you firstly need to wait for an invitation or offer from the UK University before applying for a Tier 4 (General) student visa. The university or college you have applied for will then be sending you with a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS). SHORT TERM STUDY VISAS
Short term study visas are only available to students who are looking to join courses with the six months of duration or English language courses with 11 months duration.   • Able to work as authorized by the Secretary of State
  • Working options as in Tier 4 Rules
  • Constrained as in Tier 4 Rules
  • Restricted work options – Part-time during term-time or Full-time during holidays
  • Restricted work time
  • Work restricted to 20 hours per week with maximum hours during term-time
  • Work restricted to 10 hours per week with maximum hours during term-time

Cost of study in UK

 UK tuition fees are something that has been looked upon as a controversy by many in the wake of all the increased charges in the recent years. Currently, the UK and EU students at English universities are paying up to £9,250 (~US$13,050) per year.

On the other side, the International undergraduate tuition fees is going around £10,000 (~US$14,130) that goes up to around £38,000 (~US$53,700) or more for all the medical degrees . Still, the humanities and social sciences degrees cost the least while the laboratory and clinical degree programs going cost-effective.
