Dublin Business School (DBS), also known as Portobello College, comes over as one of the two largest self-governing colleges in Ireland. The College holds more than 9,000 students coming from almost every part of the globe, while providing them with the wide range of full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, coming with courses in subject streams like business, law, accounting, IT, , event management, arts, media studies and psychology. The college’s undergraduate and part-time degrees are further been recognized by QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland). Speaking of its owners, the college is owned and governed by Kaplan, Inc., that is a part of the Graham Holdings Company.
DBS was established in the year 1975 as an Accountancy and Business College initially. In the year 1999, Dublin Business School took over LSB College Dublin. In the year 2003, DBS was acquired by Kaplan, Inc,that comes as a fully owned subsidiary of The Washington Post Company, and by the year 2004, the college incorporated more than 5,500 students. In the year 2006, DBS took over European Business School Dublin (EBS) that is a big group of eight independent business schools situated across various parts of the Europe. Portobello College, that is a well-established law school led by Raymond Kearns, was also been taken over by DBS in the year 2007. This Acquisition then allowed DBS to start along with a law school delivering both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to its local and International students
