SPP Program in Canada
Student Partners Program, which is also known as SPP, can be termed as an administrative structure in collaboration with the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). The program was launched in the year 2009 in order to rationalize the overall admission and visa process for Canadian Community Colleges whilst pushing the overall number of visas issued to Indian students for studying at Canadian Community Colleges. Initially, SPP was only available for Indian nationals, but eventually been made accessible for students coming from china as well. Students that are planning to study in Canada can take admission in any of the participating SPP colleges. One of the best parts of this process comes as the prompt processing of applications based on the authentication of the documents provided by the students.
- Total IELTS score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5. This score must not be older than 2 years.
- Students are not allowed for a study gap more than five years and special exceptions can be made in terms of students with 3 years study gap along with some good grades and work experience.
- More than 8 backlogs in recent studies are not accepted under SPP.
- The respective course which the student has applied for must comply with his/her previous study background
- Students are required to come over with at least 50% score in their recently completed degree or diploma
- Proof of payment of the tuition fee for one year or semester (as per the college policy)
- Purchasing of a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from Scotia Bank for at least CAD$10,000 in order to cover up the living expenses for the students for the first year
- Students with previously rejected visa applications cannot apply under SPP visa category.
Non SPP Program
Documentation and other eligibility criteria may vary in the Non SPP program and the students are required to furnish more documents and income proofs in order to claim their eligibility. There are many universities and Non-SPP colleges in Canada that offers various Bachelors’, Master’s and Doctorate programs. Moreover, every University/College comes along with their individual application criteria and requirements. Also, the Requirements for GRE/GMAT/SAT and English language proficiency tests may vary for the respective University or college. Additionally, the merit of the students would be kept in mind whilst considering the applications. On the other side, the Tuition fees for these Universities are higher in comparison to other Colleges and Institutes.
